Myths about hair :
1. Shampooing hair daily can damage hair : If your hair tends to get oily in a day you really need to shampoo it to remove the dirt from the scalp and hair. While shampooing remember to use a proper shampoo suiting your hair type.

So give your hair a nice spa treatment once in 15 days to give your scalp the nourishment.

5. Combing wet hair can cause hair damage : wet hair are more adjusting as they are very moist. if you detangle them with your fingers and then with wide mouth comb. it will help you manage your hair more properly. Also a live in conditioner can be used to detangle.

It should be borne in mind that homemade solutions help to counteract and control. They can help facilitate in favor or against the naturally occurring processes of hair fall, hair graying and that of its growth. On their own they should not be taken as curative solutions. In order to cure extreme conditions of hair fall and graying medical help should be taken.

Hair Fall :

Healthy Habit :

Hair should be washed and brushed properly. Similar importance should be given to trimming to prevent tearing of hair. Combs with wide tooth should be made use of. Split ends should be got rid of as part of trimming. Blow drying should be avoided because the heat generated is found to be damaging from the point of view of hair.

Home made treatment:

  • Gentle massaging of scalp regularly, preferably with drops of warm oil contributes against hair fall.
  • Some of the herbal extracts used directly in forms of juice or paste can prove to be more beneficial than their medically encapsulated forms. Paste or juice of “Bhongra” may be massaged gently on to the scalp to counteract hair falling. Paste consisting of Shana seeds with coconut or castor oil turn out as an effective option.
  • Onion juice provides hair root with sulphur

Dandruff :

Healthy Habit :
Dandruff is mostly caused due to drying of scalp of head. The reasons could be natural dandruff ( internal stress, heat, unhygiene etc ) or Cosmetic (due to harsh shampoo, hair treatment / styling products, and too much of combing ). use of a proper comb is essential. comb your hair at least 2 times a day. Absence of oil secretion by the glands of hair follicle harnesses premature graying. Oil secretion provides hair with required nutritional sustenance. The absence or deficiency of nutrition adds to premature graying. Also triggered by stress and strain intake of certain medicines may lead to the similar phenomena. Rather than going in for medications as preventive measures, certain home based solutions may be tried out because the ingredients used will yield no side effect.

Home made treatment :

  • As far as application of concocted mixture is concerned; an amalgam of coconut oil and curry leaves is supposed to be advantageous. The two ingredients may be boiled followed by due straining and cooling. Massaging the same gently on scalp helps to counteract undue graying.

A stress diet also shortens the oil source to hair. Sun, pollution, Dirt, too much of wear and tear of hair damages hair and produces split ends. Use of Conditioners can help remove the dryness & split ends.

Home made treatment :

  • Olive Oil- Of all the home remedies for split ends we tested, olive oil was the most effective. It seems there is nothing that olive oil isn’t good for. We found the olive oil to be most beneficial when heated and used as a deep conditioner. All you need to do is heat the olive oil in the microwave, and then massage it throughout your hair. Put a shower cap on, and let the olive oil work into your hair for at least half an hour. After it’s fully soaked into your hair, carefully rinse the product away.
  • Beer- Yes, we realize having beer in your hair recalls old memories of college parties, but the truth is beer is actually an effective hair conditioner. Take about a pint of beer, and work it through your hair. Be sure the beer is fully soaked into your follicles before you rinse out when. When rinsing, take extra care to remove all the beer. Otherwise, you’ll have a lingering smell of someone who’s been out partying all night.
  • Mayonnaise- Almost everybody has a jar of mayonnaise in their refrigerator. But we doubt you keep it in their for a hair care remedy. However, we found mayo to be a fairly effective home remedy for split ends. It’s certainly not the cleanest conditioner, but if used regularly, it can increase the strength and health of your hair.

Hair Growth:

Healthy Habit :
  • Following a healthy lifestyle is essential for your physical as well as mental health. A healthy hair reflects the physical and mental health of a person. Given below are few lifestyle tips that will improve hair growth.
  • Exercise improves blood circulation and circulation stimulates hair follicles. Therefore regular exercise improves the health of your hair by stimulating the follicles.
  • A diet rich in protein will promote healthy hair growth. There for protein rich food such as soy (tofu), yogurt, eggs, fish and beans etc... should be included in you diet.
  • Stress is found to be another reason behind hair fall and slow hair growth. Therefore try to lead a stress free life if you really care for your hair. Follow meditation and other relaxation techniques to lead a stress free life.
  • You should treat your hair gently and if you have the habit of using hair care products, make sure you buy only quality hair products. Try not to over-process, over-style or over-brush your hair.

Home made treatment :

  • Massaging the scalp with oil or a piece of lemon in a circular fashion adds to vitality and hair growth.
  • Applying beaten eggs on to the scalp also assists in speeding up hair growth.
  • Application of paste made out of mashed fenugreek seeds is also a healthy option.
  • Boiled mixture of thyme, rosemary and cloves may be used as a pack to contribute to hair growth. Washing hair with coconut milk proves to be a beneficial option.
  • An amalgam of rosemary, lemon, olive and egg may be applied to the scalp followed by washing for aiding hair growth.
  • In fact washing hair in beer is also good from the point of view of its health.
  • Highly enriched Aloevera can be massaged on to the scalp followed by washing to sustain good hair.

Please Note : all this remedies over the course of time i have experimented on my hair and are my personal experience. I am not a doctor or dermatologist . if anyone is suffering from acute problem and these treatments dont work. Immediately stop the usage you may be suffering a allergy. Consultant a doctor as soon as possible for any allergy

Women need Calcium !

Calcium is a mineral important to everyone, especially women.  Calcium plays an important role in bone health. The body stores most of the calcium that it consumes in bones and teeth, while some of it is stored in blood and the tissues of your body.  Our bodies are able to monitor their calcium content and remove calcium from the bones if needed.

The Role Of Calcium

Calcium helps the body to strengthen teeth and bones and also plays a role in enzyme function, blood clotting, the nervous system, heart function, and muscle function.

Strong Bones

Although the body stores most of its calcium in the bones (keeping them strong) it can regulate the level of calcium in the blood.  If the body realises that there is less calcium in the bloodstream, as compared to what there should be, it can signal to the body to hold onto as much calcium as it can (usually by restricting the amount the kidneys excrete).  Calcium can also be removed from the bones to be taken elsewhere in the body if there is not enough calcium digested and absorbed from your food.  Over time, a decreased intake of calcium can lead to even more calcium being taken from your bones and this can leave them brittle and prone to fracture.

Osteoporosis Later In Life

Strong bones help to reduce the risk of falls and injuries later in life, although osteoporosis is a major health issue, especially for women.  Osteoporosis occurs when the bones become thinner and have less strength.  This leads to more falls and more fractures.  A low calcium intake throughout life can increase the risk of osteoporosis as peak bone mass may not be reached in growing years.  The higher your peak bone mass, the lower your risk of osteoporosis.

Pregnancy

Women who are pregnant must also be aware of their calcium intake.  The growing foetus needs calcium to support the growth and development of its own skeleton.  Although pregnant women are not advised to consume any more calcium than non-pregnant women of the same age, they should still include a number of calcium rich food sources in their diet regularly.

Where's The Calcium

Sources Of Calcium

Probably the most well known source of calcium is dairy products.  This includes milk and milk products (like cheese, yoghurt, sour cream).  Calcium is also found in some leafy green vegetables but the body may not absorb as much of the calcium, and you would need to eat a very large portion of these to get a significant amount of calcium.  Canned fish with bones (for example sardines) also contain calcium, as does soy and tofu (look for fortified products).  Nuts, including almonds and brazil nuts also contain some calcium.  You can also use other foods, like breakfast cereals which have been fortified with calcium.

Calcium is important for healthy bones and teeth, and women in particular must be careful to ensure that they consume calcium rich foods regularly as this may help reduce their risk of osteoporosis later in life.  If you need help with your calcium intake, contact a dietitian or nutritionist.
Cautions With Calcium Supplements
While calcium is good for a woman s body, too much of anything can cause problems. The body has a natural mechanism for protecting against calcium overdose, but it can be over-ridden if more than 4 grams of calcium are consumed per day. To do this, a woman would need to be taking 3-4 times the usual dose in supplement tablets a day. The two most serious effects of calcium overdose are renal damage and the deposit of calcium in other areas of the body besides the bones.
Women who are already at risk for developing kidney stones should take caution about taking supplements. They can contribute to stone formation. Any woman taking supplements may get constipation and acid stomach. Keeping total intake to 1500 mg/day virtually eliminates this problem.

Calcium supplements can be involved in drug interactions with medications. A woman should always touch base with her doctor before starting calcium supplements. Her doctor can make sure there are no drug interactions or medical reasons to avoid them.
Dairy Is Not For All Women
When calcium is mentioned, the first source that comes to mind is dairy products (milk and milk products). However, if a woman is lactose intolerant, vegan vegetarian, or allergic, has religious or other self-imposed dietary restriction, or if she just doesn t like milk, dairy foods are not the best option.

Fat Is A Problem

Dairy products are chalk-full of fat. The non-fat options are often unappealing. For example, take an average woman taking in 2,000 calories/day and requiring 1200 mg of calcium/day. If she was to get all of her daily requirements for calcium from drinking 2% milk, she would have already used up 40% of the calories from fat that she should be getting for that day. Even worse, drinking whole milk would take up 80% of her calories from fat! The latter choice comes close to eliminating meat eating, if she wants to a diet that is low-fat, but meets her calcium needs.

How Importance of Calcium for women ?

Calcium helps the body to strengthen teeth and bones and also plays a role in enzyme function, blood clotting, the nervous system, heart function, and muscle function. Calcium helps strengthen bones and bones support the whole weight of body.

It is very essential to do this during the early life, especially for women. The best time to do so is early thirties. As after menopause it is almost impossible.

What can Calcium deficiency cause ?

Calcium deficiency leads to osteoporosis. Which weakens the bones and the person is easily prone to fractures. The incidence of osteoporosis have increased rapidly around the world. More in no for  women. Osteoporosis can occur due to various factors such as inadequate diet of calcium, physical activity, obesity etc.

What causes calcium deficiency ?

Our life style is the main cause of calcium deficiency.  Beverages like coffee, aerated drinks, fast foods which are now a part of our regular diet are taking away the calcium from our body.

So my friends gear on and start taking care of yourself. See you soon with more on women need calcium....

NEEM

Neem Bark/ Stem
Neem Flowers
Neem fruit/ seeds
Neem Tree
Neem Leaves

Neem has much to offer in solving global, agricultural, environmental and public health problems. No other tree can match Neem’s usefulness. Neem rightfully belongs to the millions of ordinary Indians who learnt to put it to use, as it is this knowledge, passed down through generations, that has helped scientists discover Neem’s amazing potential. The commercial and industrial prospects of neem are unlimited and exciting.

1.  Mix pure neem oil with Vaseline in the ratio of 1:5. This combination can be used for repelling insects including mosquitoes as well as for skin disorders, minor cuts, burns, wounds etc.
2.  For complete skin protection make a strong tea with neem leaves and add to the bath along with a little rose water.
3.  Boil 10 freshly cleaned neem leaves along with cotton with a liter of water for approx. 10 mins. Cool. Use as an eyewash in case of conjunctivitis, itching etc.
4.  For athletes’ foot and other foot problems, make a strong tea and soak feet.
5.  For dandruff and head lice: Massage neem oil mixed with coconut or olive oil into hair and leave for 1 hour. Shampoo. Repeat once weekly for 3 weeks or as long as problem persists.
6.  To treat a sore throat without antibiotics, gargle with neem leaf water (add 2 – 3 neem leaves to 300 ml water and cool) to which honey has been added.
7.  For acne, pimples, skin infections pure neem leaf powder mixed with water to the affected area.
8.  Prevent breeding of mosquitoes by adding crushed neem seeds and neem oil to all breeding areas. Neem products ensure complete inhibition of egg laying for seven days.
9. Add 30 ml of neem oil to 1 ltr of water. Mix well. Add 1 ml of teepol (liquid detergent) and spray immediately for plant protection. Do not store the mixture; make fresh formulation for each spray.
10. Boil 40 – 50 neem leaves in 250 ml of water 20 mins. Cool, strain and refrigerate to use as a astringent.
11. Chewing 2 – 3 neem leaves regularly helps purify the blood and in cases of hyperacidity and diabetes.
12. To ward of mosquitoes, add 5 – 10% neem oil to any oil and light as a diya (lamp).
13.Add shake dried neem leaves for preservation of food grains like rice, wheat, lentils etc. The leaves should be replaced every 2 – 3 months.
Store neem oil in a cool dark place, away from sunlight. In case neem oil solidifies due to low temperatures, put the bottle in warm water (below 95 degree F) to liquefy. Putting the bottle in very hot water may reduce the effectiveness of oil.
My childhood memories with the Neem :
I really wonder a tree in my back yard can do so much change in our life. Make it so simple to live.
I remember my Great Grand mother used neem leaves in our bathing water for chicken pox one summer. Now after 15yrs understand its importance, have no marks of those boils.
I Have also used stem of neem to brush teeth. We would demand for tooth brush & resist to brush with the neem stem,Because we were urban kids & its taste was bitter. She would challenge us " Lets see who's teeth are strongest .
Also slept & played under the dense shade of tree in that hot summer afternoon. My grand parents had planted some 10 neem trees to make the air purified around the house. We never had mosquito in that area or other insects.

Enjoyed our childhood under the Neem...did you?
Neem Foundation

Note- I have not tried all of them. Just a research. I like to share with all of you.
